FINDING FUNDING (3 hours)

The search for sponsors can be both time consuming and frustrating. Online databases are becoming increasingly important in helping researchers to quickly identify potential funding sources. This "hands on" workshop will focus on the use of powerful searching tools such as Community of Science, InfoED (SPIN), the Foundation Center and Grants.gov, with plenty of time for participants to practice their skills.
> Keyword searches of online databases
> Refining your search with keyword manipulation
> Locating potential collaborators
> Navigating web sites of key federal agencies

Note: This workshop requires a computer lab and your school's membership in Community of Science, InfoEd (SPIN), or other searchable database

DEMYSTIFYING SPONSORED RESEARCH

GrantWinners Seminars can be especially effective in helping junior faculty to launch their research careers. Studies show that younger faculty who do not start early with their research careers rarely do so later on. But many feel overwhelmed with teaching and publishing responsibilies, and grant writing gets pushed to a back burner. By stressing key principles and practical skills for success, these workshops can be strong motivators for younger faculty to get started in sponsored research.
